ADM.

Born: 1961

Education:
Second level

Previous jobs:
Language Lab assistant
Trainee taxidermist

After leaving school, ADM worked for a few months before deciding there had to be more to life than this and quit to stay at home, look after his animals and land, and create music. He never looked back, and now has four dogs, a horse, two goats, a collection of ducks and chickens, a thriving garden, and a huge back catalogue of recordings.

What was the first gig you went to?
The Undertones supporting The Stranglers in Belfast. I left thinking I'd seen a decent local band called The Undertakers!

What would you be if you weren't a musician?
Rich.

What is your most treasured material possession?
Ann.

What's the worst recording you ever made?
"The Deep" by my first band International Rescue. The bass player (who was a complete plonker) said it was ‘a bit emotional’ and told me that I wasn't an emotional kind of guy!

When did you last cry, and why?
I'm not an emotional kind of guy!

What's your poison?
Too much whiskey and a late film.

What characteristics have you inherited from your parents?
The resourcefulness and patience to attempt just about anything.

What objects do you always carry with you?
There's nothing I always carry around.

What was the last record you bought?
Saltpetre by Ruby.

What would be your most likely complaint in a hotel?
In the light of a recent experience concerning a major Dublin hotel which shall remain nameless and a sick DAT machine, which resulted in a major delay in the mixing of my new album and serious inconvenience to at least two friends, I'd be most likely to complain about the inability to pass on a simple message. On second thoughts, why should Jurys Christchurch Inn remain nameless!

What is your culinary speciality?
Mixed cereals. With soya milk.

Describe yourself in five words.
Amusing, brilliant, charming, debonair and modest.

What is your greatest fear?
That this bloody questionnaire will never end.

What is your most unpleasant characteristic?
Pick any one you like from the five I gave you earlier.

What is the greatest film ever made?
I'll have to think about that. Can I give you the ten greatest?

Can you recite a line of poetry?
Yes.

What music would you choose for your funeral?
I would like to be cremated to Light My Fire by The Doors.

What turns you on?
Schubert's String Quintet.

Happiness is...?
Long walks in the fresh air in good company (Ann for instance).

How would you like to be remembered?
For ever, as amusing brilliant charming debonair and modest!
